As promised, more Caleb pictures from at the hospital and coming home.....
Thursday, June 24th, just a few hours old.
First visitors - Grandma & Grandpa stayed with Big Brother Jacob in the morning and then brought him to the hospital after his nap.

Snackin' with Mama. A girl came to the room with a cart offering free newspapers and fresh baked cookies, so we got a newspaper to document the day Caleb was born and chocolate chip cookies for all 5 of us.

Aunt Mindy came with Denver and Makenna - Denver was especially excited to see Caleb and fought his Mommy to be the first to hold him.
Mason wasn't as excited about Caleb......it might have had something to do with seeing his mommy holding another baby....
Saturday, June 26 - Another good night with a calm and quiet Caleb. We watched a major fireworks show out our window that a near-by golf course was shooting off before I nodded off to sleep. The next morning was the familiar routine of meeting and being checked over by the new shift of nurses, a nice hot shower, and another visit from Cece. Then Jeff came and watched the required "Never Shake a Baby" and "SIDS" videos with me, we made sure we had all the necessary forms signed and turned in, and then our nurse, Marty, helped us check out and gave us hugs goodbye after seeing us to the car. We had so many wonderful nurses!
Jacob is such a good brother, he wanted to take care of Caleb right from the start. Apparently Caleb needs his paci in his mouth at all times.
Sunday, June 27 - Caleb's first night at home was pretty good. He started grunting more than he did in the hospital, so I don't think Jeff believes how quiet he was during the nights at the hospital. Jacob was a big grunter from his first day - he was only in our room at night for the first week, but I don't think Caleb will get quite that noisy. I like having him in the bassinet by the bed. We DID take Caleb to church his first full day out of the hospital. Everyone seemed so surprised by that, but he sleeps so much that it really doesn't matter where we are, and it was nice to get out of the house and show him off. Then my parents drove to Omaha and spent the afternoon and early evening with us. It was wonderful to see them and introduce Caleb to his other grandparents!
Got a pic with our nurse, Brooke, who helped during my labor and delivery before she took us to the postpartum floor. Lisa did get a picture of my midwife, Marilyn, with Caleb, but I don't have the picture file to upload yet.

Friday, June 25th - our first night at the hospital was a success. The room is great (we were the first ones to use it) with a pleasant view out our big window (just West Dodge Street traffic and grassland looking toward Elkhorn....soon to be developed, I'm sure). Caleb was very calm and quiet all through the night, but did wake himself, and me, up to eat every few hours - he got the hang of the nursing thing down pretty well right off the bat, just a minor latch issue to correct. So, after the new nurses checked our temperatures and blood pressure and everything I got up to get ready for the day.....shooed away the cleaning crew so I could have some privacy, took a nice hot shower, let in Dr. Michaels from the Pediatrician's office who came to check out Caleb (our doctor, Dr. Krenzer, was out of the office for a few days) and then took him to get circumcised. This was just the beginning of our busy day. Next, one of my midwives, Cece, came to check on me, then I finally got breakfast ordered. I made and received a few phone calls, Jeff and Jacob arrived to eat breakfast with me, and then our first "real" visitor of the day came just after Caleb was returned to me - I had heard his little cry down the hall (I think it was him, but they were circumcising 2 other babies as well so I can't be sure), poor guy! He was too sleepy from the pain and Tylenol they gave him to have the energy to eat, and I don't know that any of the morning or afternoon visitors saw his eyes.
Baby Cora came with her Mommy, Rachel. We marveled at what a difference 5 weeks makes - WHY DO THEY HAVE TO GROW SO FAST?!?!

That evening Aimee came with Abby and Mason (the little squirts I babysit - who, like Jacob, seemed so BIG to me all of a sudden!) Abby is SO sweet with Caleb - lots of gentle cuddles and kisses.
