Last week Jacob turned 2 months old. And like all parents say, "It feels like just yesterday that he was born!" I cried when we had to switch to the next size diapers and when he outgrew all his newborn size clothes! Saying goodbye to the tiny, tiny baby stage was the hardest thing for me. But I finally accepted it and now I am REALLY enjoying the small infant stage. Those are indeed technical terms for growth stages, by the way....Ha! I always told my sister, there's a reason why you're the nurse and I'm the teacher! You have to make things easy to understand!
Anyway, at his 2 month well baby checkup he weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds, 2 ounces, and measured 23 3/4 inches long....thus the title of this blog entry! He moved up from the 18th percentile (at his 2 week checkup) to the 77th & 80th percentile for size! It was also vaccine time. One vaccine Jacob took orally and was quite fond of the sugary liquid the nurse squirted in his mouth. Then 3 awful shots in his legs.........we heard that "baby elephant" cry that just broke my heart, the one that he pretty much outgrew after he was about 2 weeks old, the one that he reserves now for only very traumatic occasions. Sleep, baby tylenol, and a warm bath soothed him the rest of the day & night and the next morning he'd already forgotten all about it.
Fun things about this Small Infant stage: Lots of eye contact, smiles & baby coos (I'll post a video as soon as Daddy breaks down and buys the one we picked out even though it's not on sale)! Dr. Krenzer says Jacob will soon discover his hands and then he'll start to reach and grasp for things. Of course, then everything will go in the mouth, so I'll be sanitizing non-stop. So many cute new clothes! And, to mommy's relief, sleeping up to 8 or 9 hours during the night! Full sleep cycles are one of those things you take for granted until you're deprived for months on end. I did it gladly, of course, but I don't mind leaving that part behind us.
Now we have to catch up on some pictures of Jacob from the last two months. Many are from before the Christmas post, so please forgive the order!
For those of you who didn't see me at my biggest, here you go! This was taken about 10 days before Jacob was born.
HOSPITAL PICTURES

My family came for a day from SD to see Jacob at the hospital when he was born. Then my sister and Denver came back for a couple days & my mom came the following week for a whole week! It was wonderful just to spend time together, have help with meals, and give my baby lots of love while I took a nap.
Mindy took this family picture of us while she was here. Jacob was about a week old here.

Great Grandma & Grandpa Kliewer came to visit Jacob one afternoon soon after he was born.

Jacob went to his first basketball game! Cousin Ethan played GREAT! Jacob looked around in awe for the first half, but then fell asleep for the second half -stimulation overload!

Great Grandpa Melvin & Jacob.

Daddy's Best Buddy!
Jeff is sure that Jacob says "Hi" and "Dad" already.
Part of Jacob's room -there are now pictures in the frames and he had a toy box, dresser, bookshelf, and rocking chair in his room as well. It's amazing what we fit into a tiny room. We will not be re-aranging furniture though.
Christmas in SD was Jacob's first road trip. He slept to entire 3 hours there and most of the time on the way back! Easy!

First bath! Daddy likes to give Jacob crazy hair-doos since he has so much of it. The mohawk is the favorite, but the 50's comb-over is also quite popular.
