Lots of Updates!

I realize that I have been quite delinquent in updating the blog.  After all, Jacob will be 6 months next week and I haven't even posted 5 month pictures!  So, the following is a wirlwind of updates from the last month and a half.

Let's start with 5 month pictures.....FYI, I weighed Jacob at home here one of the first days of May and he was 19 lbs.  Anyone want to arm wrestle? ;)

What Jacob loves at 5 months:

Chewing on the straw of Mommy's hospital water mug (he hasn't figured out how to suck up the water yet, but it won't be long), chewing on his rasberry teether, chewing on his fingers....actually he prefers to chew on OTHER people's fingers.  So you've gathered that basically he loves to chew on everything right now - working on those teeth!
Toes work too!  Oh, to be that flexible again - even with all those baby rolls!
Grabing faces - watch out Uncle Loren!
Snuggling with Aunties!

Jacob loves to be outside.  He seems to lick at the air when the wind blows - so cute!  When we go to South Dakota he likes to sit in the porch swing with Grandma.  Grandma kept the walker and right now it's perfect for Jacob and we even took that outside.
Jacob had his first rice cereal just before he was 5 months.  He got the hang of it pretty quickly and now he opens his mouth really good for the next spoonful.  We just got some oatmeal for him and he doesn't seem to have a taste preference and will also eat it warm or cold.
He's also been sitting up on his own for the last few weeks.  A good thing too since he's getting to big for the bumbo seat!  He likes his high chair much better.

Next Topic: New Cousin Makenna!

Makenna Betty Kindt
Born on May 5 to my sister, Mindy, and Brother-in-law, Evan.  She was exactly the same size as Jacob when he was born so it's crazy to see them side by side when we visited them at the hospital.  Everything went well and Denver is quickly becoming a loving, helpful big brother.  Twice while I was at their house Denver tried to share his sippy cup of milk with Makenna.

Jacob (5 mo.), Makenna (4 days), Denver (almost 18 months)
I love this picture of Mindy with Makenna - Mindy looks great and Makenna looks SO tiny, she's pretty much holding her with one hand!  I miss my baby being so small, it didn't last long enough.

My First Mothers Day

What a joy it is to finally be a mother!  Surely it is the most fulfilling and rewarding role I will ever have.  Jeff and Jacob got me Casablanca lilies (my favorite, and not exactly in season - Jeff hunted them down) and Jeff MADE me a card!  I felt quite honored!  We invited Jeff's parents over for lunch and had a wonderful afternoon together!

Jacob's Future Wife?

Not to pressure the kids or anything, but just in case they actually DO get married some day we had to make sure to get a picture of Jacob with Amelia when we went to visit at the hospital when she was born.  After all, Jacob did grab the phone from me for the first time when Jason called to say "It's a girl!"

Jacob and Denver - just some cute pictures of the cousins playing together.

Congrats to the Graduate!

My youngest cousin, Ethan, just graduated from High School last weekend.  This handsome young man will soon be roaming the halls of South Dakota State University.  Go Jackrabbits!

Tune in next week for 6 month check-up stats!

Unbelievable how much he has changed! What a cutie patootie.

BTW, Simon weighed 17 lbs, 15 oz. at his 15-month checkup. That's right, not quite 18 lbs. Whoa.
