A 22/23 month old will NOT beat me, I WIN!!!

Image
This is my son, sound asleep for his nap IN HIS BED! He has the strongest will I've ever encountered, EVER, but after 2 months of sleeping issues we finally have a peaceful house again. Apparently 2 months is a common time frame for older siblings to realize jealousy of a newborn sibling and I'm pretty sure that's why this started, because Jacob was going to bed in his big boy bed very well most of the time before then, and Caleb is now 4 months so this was a two month long battle. We tried every thing.... *** Not wanting to worsen any anxiety or insecurity he might be feeling over Caleb's new place in our family, we catered to his desire to have us lay down with him until he fell asleep - which was fine at first when it only took a few minutes, but then he became manipulative about it and saw it as a time to stay up late and talk & play with Mommy or Daddy regardless of how much we ignored him & pretended to be asleep. After 2 nights of zero time alone or wit...

How many licks to the center of a tootsie pop?

Well, if you are the Owl or Jacob, its somewhere around 3. Jacob discovered his love of Tootsie Pops this Halloween. Somewhere toward the end of our candy walk through the Klaassen's neighborhood Jacob pulled one out of his bucket and got the wrapper off without us noticing. His eyes got wide and he repeated "Mmmmm," over again and again. Then he went into some kind of sugar coma - his eyes glossed over, he didn't speak or respond to us, and his legs turned to jello, we had to sit out a house or two while he finished (which didn't take long - I was amazed!) and then he immediately popped out of it and was back in action, smiling and saying "trick-or-treat" in his sweet little voice. Every time we let him choose a piece if candy for dessert he always goes for the suckers. all the kids - most of the girls were princesses this year, if they had specific names I'm not sure, forgive me friends.... Daddy time!

For 3 weeks in September they were trying something new at work and Jeff worked Saturday instead of Monday. It was an interesting change that we decided to take advantage of rather than be annoyed about loosing part of the weekend. And the kids got some great Daddy time out of the deal. His first Monday off we went to the zoo and enjoyed lovely weather and very manageable crowds. I was babysitting that day so with an extra car seat and both our cars we headed to the Zoo for our first outing with 4 kids 2 years and under. I have a whole new respect for parents of twins/triplets/or more, but we had a lot of fun! Everyone had a hat to begin with, but Jacob's got left at home and Abby's got left in the car. We had the double stroller and the wagon and the kids basically played musical chairs the whole time. This baby tiger was born 2 days before Caleb, kind of a funny age comparison! In the Cat Complex Watching the Apes through a dome lookout window. Caleb was actually awake ...
